Indigenous Opportunities ‘One Mob’

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from K-6 have been involved in a number of excursions and activities throughout the year.

Students have attended two Cultural excursions sharing in the learning of traditional dance, cultural games, health stations, boomerang painting and connecting with other students of Indigenous culture.
Aboriginal Elder Col Hardy attended the school to perform for our Kindergarten NAIDOC celebrations and all Indigenous children helped mentor Kindergarten throughout this day.
Students have revisited and revised the Gymea Bay Public School Acknowledgement of Country and have worked together to develop an accompanying artwork design that is soon to be displayed.
There is an ongoing importance and respect towards students of Indigenous background at Gymea Bay and we will continue to provide many opportunities for students to connect and feel valued, further exploring their culture within our school.
