Parents and citizens association

Gymea Bay Public School has an active and enthusiastic Parents’ and Citizens’ Association (P&C). The P&C represents parents and carers of children at our school. The P&C successfully supports and enriches the quality education of our students through a number of activities. These activities are possible with the continued support of parents and community members.

In addition to the P&C executive, the P&C also has a group of sub-committees which provide facilities, services and support to the school and our children. Parents are encouraged to attend P&C meetings and to support P&C functions and activities.

The P&C is committed to a free public education system which is inclusive of all, irrespective of culture, gender, academic ability and socio-economic status. Parents as partners in the education process have a right and a responsibility to play an active role in the education of their children.

The P&C meets on the Tuesday of Week 3 and Week 8 of each term in the staff room at 7:30pm. Meetings include receipt of correspondence, reports of various activities, a personal report by the principal, updates on relevant educational issues, allocation of funds and general business where matters of interest concerning the school and education are discussed.  Reports from sub committees are also presented. The P&C Annual General Meeting is held at the first meeting of each year in February.  Minutes of each meeting are kept by the secretary and can be accessed on the school's website.

All correspondence, is sent to the P&C through our email at gymeabaypandc@gmail.com

Among other things, the P&C raises money for the school through various fundraising activities. In 2012 P&C fund raising provided an upgrade to our playground including building improvements, new seating and landscaping. The money is also used for school equipment (such as electronic white boards in 2011), music and sport resources. Our main fund raising event for the year is the school fete, known as the Gymea Lily Festival.
